LIBERTY LAKE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI) announced today that it has been selected to
provide its advanced metering solution to Melbourne and regional water
companies in the state of Victoria in Australia. The solution will help
City West Water, South East Water, Yarra Valley Water and Barwon Water
manage supply, optimize usage and conserve water resources. This
contract follows a three-year contract Itron completed with the four
utilities to deliver water meters and the associated AMR system.
The Melbourne and regional water companies collectively selected Itron
meters in its tender evaluation process because of Itron's quality of
product, proven service standard and competitive price.
The solution consists of highly-efficient and accurate Itron residential
and C&I meters equipped with communication modules, which will be
installed at the four utilities over the next three years. The advanced
metering solution will help support the modernization of the utilities'
water networks and enable better management of water consumption data.
"Melbourne Combined Utilities has a longstanding relationship with
Itron. As a trusted partner, Itron continues to help us create a more
intelligent water network in Victoria," said Andrew Geary, metering
services coordinator for City West Water. "With Itron's improved meter
accuracy and advanced metering communication, we can address our need
for improved metering accuracy and efficient collection of accurate
meter data."
"Helping water providers in Australia solve their business challenges is
Itron's priority. Our work with the Melbourne and regional water
companies exemplifies Itron's ability to deliver proven technology that
meets the unique needs of the country," said Sheena Trumble, Itron
general manager, Australia.
